Trigger Finger Release
If non-operative management fails to improve, triggering in the thumb or fingers and releasing the A1 Pulley is a reliable and simple day surgery procedure.
We now use a technique similar to our Ultrasound-Guided Carpal Tunnel release to release the A1 Pulley. This involves a 1-2 mm puncture wound, and under Ultrasound Guidance, an Acufex Hook Knife from Smith and Nephew is used to release the A1 Pulley. This avoids the need for open surgery, although some cases of trigger thumb still require open surgery.
