Dr Michael Maguire
Orthopaedic Upper Limb Surgeon and Sports Medicine Practitioner

Dr Michael Maguire is an Australian-trained orthopaedic surgeon and the founder of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre (MISC), an accredited day hospital on the Gold Coast, dedicated to cutting-edge, image-guided surgical care. With almost 20 years of orthopaedic surgical experience, Dr Maguire specialises in shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand conditions, with a particular focus on minimally invasive techniques that reduce pain, scarring, and downtime. As a qualified Sports Injury Practitioner with a Master of Sports Medicine, Dr Maguire also treats a wide range of upper- and lower-limb sports injuries. Dr Maguire offers micro-invasive procedures for both the Upper and Lower Limbs, including Orthobiologics such as PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and MSC (Mesenchymal Stem Cell) Therapy.
A pioneer in ultrasound-guided surgery, Dr Maguire has developed and refined procedures that enable faster, safer treatment of common nerve and tendon conditions—including carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, and rotator cuff pathology. He is an expert in surgical and non-surgical innovations and helps advance safety and efficiency in day surgery settings.
At MISC, Dr Maguire leads a team committed to delivering specialist-level care in a streamlined, patient-first environment, working closely with GPs, physiotherapists, and insurers like WorkCover Queensland to ensure optimal outcomes.
Dr Bin Yi

Dr Bin Yi is an experienced medical practitioner with over 35 years of clinical experience, including more than 20 years in orthopaedic surgery and musculoskeletal medicine across Australia and China. He brings extensive expertise in orthopaedic trauma, fracture management, sports and soft tissue injuries, and musculoskeletal conditions, combining a strong surgical background with a patient-centred approach to diagnosis and treatment.
Dr Yi graduated from Peking University Health Science Centre in 1988 and subsequently undertook advanced orthopaedic training at Peking University People’s Hospital, where he was appointed Associate Professor and Orthopaedic Surgeon. He later served as Director of Orthopaedics at Altay Prefecture Hospital, leading the department and managing complex trauma and reconstructive orthopaedic procedures.
Since relocating to Australia, Dr Yi has gained extensive clinical experience at Frankston Hospital, The Tweed Hospital, and John Flynn Private Hospital, working in orthopaedic surgery, emergency medicine, fracture management, and surgical assisting. He has also practised in general medicine for more than a decade and currently works at Chevron After Hours Medical Services on the Gold Coast.
Dr Yi has a strong academic background, with peer-reviewed orthopaedic publications and contributions to the education and supervision of medical students, junior doctors, and orthopaedic trainees. His clinical interests include upper limb conditions, peripheral nerve disorders, musculoskeletal ultrasound, image-guided interventions, and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
At Maguire Upper Limb, the Carpal Tunnel Clinic, and the Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre, Dr Yi brings his extensive orthopaedic and musculoskeletal experience to a multidisciplinary team focused on innovative, evidence-based care. Working alongside Dr Michael Maguire, he is further developing his expertise in ultrasound-guided procedures, WALANT techniques, and ultra-minimally invasive surgery, with an emphasis on accurate diagnosis, personalised treatment, and helping patients return to normal activities as efficiently as possible.
